MMSU obtains high passing rate in PT exam, produces topnotcher
TWENTY FOUR of the 30 examinees from MMSU who took the Occupational Therapy Licensure Examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on August 6-7 passed the test, garnering an institutional passing rate of 80% as against the 68.06% national passing rate.
Professors Ruth Anne Claricel P. Batin and Mary Audrey D. Viloria, MMSU’s PT review coordinators, reported that the MMSU examinees were among the 846 passers out of the 1,243 who took the test. Of the 24 passers, Stephen Dann Del Rosario garnered the third highest place.
Meanwhile, record shows that only 29 of the 75 PT schools in the country were able to surpass the national passing rate, which translates into 38.67% of all schools which fielded their examinees. Of the 49 schools which did not surpass the national passing rate, 23 of them registered a zero percent passing rate.
Among the five PT schools in Region 1, only MMSU was able to surpass the national passing rate, thus, the university is still the best PT school in the region.
Profs. Batin and Viloria said in a statement that the success of this latest board examination was the result of the concerted efforts of the PT Department on its full monitoring activities on the performance of its graduates and the continuous guidance and mentoring during the students’ pre-board examination.
“We take this result as a challenge to do even better in the next licensure examination,” she said, adding that the department will plan on new strategies and incorporate the existing techniques for the next review program.
In another news, the Agricultural Engineering Department of the COE has suffered a setback as gleaned from the result of the August 16-17 Agricultural Engineer Board Examination administered by the PRC.
Of the 49 examinees, only 13 passed garnering an institutional passing rate of 26.53% as against the 39.52% national passing percentage.
