Medicine dean speaks in world congress

In a global exchange of best medical practices, Mariano Marcos State University – College of Medicine Dean Policarpio B. Joves Jr. presented in the second World Congress of the International Academy of Medical Specialists (IAMS), held on June 10-11 at the New Castle University, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

 

With the theme, “Borderless Medicine: Expanding Access to Interprofessional, Team-based Global Health,” the two-day congress gathered the IAMS members, partners, and stakeholders around the world to strengthen collaboration in the medical practice.

 

Dr. Joves shared about primary care orientation of the MMSU-COM curriculum. He presented an overview on the importance of reorienting the health professions education curricula and training programs on Primary Health Care. The dean also shared the best practices of the university in producing competent and Universal Health Care-ready graduates.

 

Earlier this year, MMSU partnered with the Healthcare Executives Society of the Philippines for the offering of Master in Healthcare Management starting in the first semester of Academic Year 2023-2024.

 

For seven consecutive times, MMSU has scored a 100 percent passing rate in the Physicians Licensure Examination. The college has already produced 64 licensed physicians since its establishment in 2015 – three of them are topnotchers, including Dr. Aira Cassandra Castro who ranked first in March 2023.
