FAI, MMSU renews CNA

MMSU and its Faculty Association Inc. (FAI) are looking forward to a better working relationship as both parties have agreed to continue to foster and promote harmony, efficiency, and productivity in the working areas.

In the 6th Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) signed last February 12, MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis and Engr. Marcial D. Gabriel, MMSU-FAI president, promised to continue adhere to the highest standard of ethics, morality, and fidelity in the civil service.

Under the present agreement, CNA incentives shall be given to the officers and members of FAI, and can also be availed of by the academic rank and file employees who are not members of the FAI. It also states that both parties shall resolve matters pertaining to the conditions of employment, benefits, professional growth and other personnel group. The programs on faculty development and welfare must be guided by the existing policies and standards such as faculty development plan, merit promotion plan for teaching personnel, faculty manual, and suggestion and incentive award system.

In terms of benefits, FAI members shall receive shares in sales from inventions, publications, course wares and others, as well as scholarships and grants, housing privileges, first aid and regular medical and dental check-up and services, faculty workload points for non-teaching tasks, and conversion of overload and overtime services rendered to service credits.

Both parties also agreed to grant faculty members of welfare fund, shuttle service, rice allowance, and anniversary bonus.

Under saving mechanism, the FAI promises to actively participate in system improvement and help the university in implementing initiatives for lesser cost on the use of electricity, water, fuel, supplies and materials.

The association also commits to maximize sharing of resources among units and employees, patronize university’s facilities to increase income generation, implement the 5S program regularly, and practice the bayanihan spirit, which is a hale and hearty system of reciprocity among the members, by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the university.
