Alumni join MMSU birthday celebration
Alumni Relations Office – The alumni of the university got together Jan. 13 to join in the celebration of MMSU’s 34th foundation anniversary. The Alumni Relations Office and the Federated Alumni Association, Incorporated (FAAI) prepared activities for the half-day affair.
The program started with presentation of accomplishments in 2011 by each of the chapter presidents. Significant activities of the alumni were highlighted such as: the Balik Alumni Program where graduates return to the university to share their expertise and experiences as speakers, lecturers, and trainers; their extension programs like medical missions; and their donations in the form of cash, books, equipment, and other facilities.
To facilitate the organization of alumni records and documents and the conduct of graduate tracers and researches, the FAAI distributed laptop and desktop computers to the alumni coordinators. This joint project of the federation and the chapter associations required a 50-50 share in the cost of the computer. The distribution was led by MMSU President Miriam E. Pascua, FAAI President Bismark Angelo A. Quidang, and ARO Officer-in-Charge Rosabel L. Acosta.
Chapter officers including those newly elected at the Graduate School and at the Laboratory High School in Batac were inducted into office by President Pascua. The alumni, in turn, formally made a renewal of commitment to their alma mater expressing their love, concern, and support.
Also launched during the activity was the Student Assistance Program which aims to financially support in each chapter at least two “poor but deserving†new graduates in preparing to take the board examination. As this will be a continuing program of the federation, several fund-raising activities have been outlined this year.
In his message, President Quidang spoke on the current activities of the federation and thanked the MMSU administration and all the alumni for their support. He promised to lead the association to continue venturing into worthwhile endeavors that will help the university maintain its tradition of excellence. Dr. Pascua also expressed gratitude to the alumni for being supportive to the programs of the university and challenged them to continue extending their love and blessings to their alma mater.
Alumni and guests joined in the Bingo Socials-cum-Raffle Draw, proceeds of which will serve as initial fund for the SAP. The raffle draw prizes were given by benevolent donors.
