7 Project C4 trainers now certified by BPA/P

AFTER RIGOROUS training, faculty trainers of the university’s Coaching for a Contact Center Career (Project C4) passed the certification test that would enable them to handle Advanced English Proficiency Training (AdEPT) classes.

The trainers are Dr. Marlina Lino (Project Coordinator), Dexter Adriatico, Luvee Hazel Aquino, Mee Jay Domingo, Mark Lawrence Fernandez, Eufe Madariaga, and Charmagne Balantac. Except Balantac, who is a CTE instructor, all of the trainers are based at CAS.

The AdEPT Train the Trainers Training (T3) was held Oct. 17-28 at the Jose Rizal University in Mandaluyong City. Faculty trainers from various colleges and universities in the country, as well as independent trainers, joined the training. They were assessed through a phone interview to qualify for the T3.

To get certified, the trainers had to develop lessons and conduct a demonstration teaching of how they would conduct AdEPT classes along grammar and fluency using the framework suggested by AdEPT.

“We really worked hard in developing our lessons and preparing for the demo,” Fernandez said. “We learned new techniques, relearned some concepts, and unlearned old ones.”

AdEPT is an intensive English training program developed by the Business Processing Association/Philippines (BPA/P). It aims to train graduating students for possible employment in the information technology/business process outsourcing (IT-BPO) industry and across other industries. It includes modules on accuracy (grammar), accent, and fluency.

“We are excited in rolling out AdEPT because this is one way by which we can help our students find jobs. After all, this is the mission of Project C4,” Lino said.

The university president, Dr. Miriam Pascua, congratulated the trainers and expressed her support for the project’s activities, particularly the implementation of the AdEPT.

Project C4, conceived in 2010, aims to prepare students and alumni for employment in the IT-BPO industry, particularly in contact centers.

To date, around 200 students, alumni, and faculty members have been trained under the Project C4. Trainees have been endorsed to companies for recruitment and employment.

Through this project, the university has also been fostering linkages with BPO companies and associations.
