11 pass nurse exam

College of Health Sciences – Eleven out of 25 hopeful examinees emerged as newly registered nurses (RN) after the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released result of the Nurse Licensure Examination conducted on Dec. 17-18, 2011. They registered a school performance of 44 percent, which is above the national passing percentage of 33.92 percent.

According to Ms. Julie C. Damaso, Department of Nursing review coordinator, only one of the examinees took the exam for the first time. The new nurses are: Blandine Faye C. Calantes, Jennifer D. Claro, Sheila Ysobelle Q. Cortero, Kristine Ann T. Lagua, Mark Czar A. Manangan, Rhea Manuel, Nezlie Jessamagne F. Pasion, Rhean Evidde G. Reyes, Hazel Rigonan, Jethro Q. Torralba, and Mae Dawn D. Visitacion. The group was honored together with the 15 newly registered physical therapists (PT) during a testimonial program held Feb. 28 at the University Function Hall.

Ms. Judith P. Valenzuela, Department of Nursing chairperson, expressed deep joy as she congratulated the passers and the department’s efforts as well. “I strongly believe in what one of our nursing passers told us: that there is no such thing as failure, [only] a delayed success.”

The oath-taking ceremony for new nurses in this part of Luzon is tentatively slated March 21 at the Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel in Laoag City.
