MMSU is 3rd best PT school in PH

After six consecutive years of continued remarkable performance in the Physical Therapy Licensure Examinations, MMSU once again prevailed as the 3rd top-performing school in the February 2018 Physical Therapy Licensure Examination conducted by the Professional Regulations Commission.

Of the 49 examinees from the MMSU College of Health Sciences (CHS), 44 passed, yielding an institutional passing rate of 89.80 percent as against the 59.98 percent national success rate. They are among the 772 new physical therapists in the country.

“I am overwhelmed by the result,” said CHS Dean Manolita S. Crisostomo, attributing such feat to the discipline of the graduates during their review, and the cooperation of the faculty members of college’s Department of Physical Therapy.

Last year, the university was recognized by the LocalPulse (LP), a reputable social news and entertainment website, as the 16th best PT school after five years of remarkable performance in the examinations.

To rank the schools, the LP took the weighted passing rate average of PT examinations from 2014 to 2018 (40%), total number of examinees in the 5-year period (20%), the top-performing examinees within five years (10%), overall board exam performance (10%), average faculty-student ratio (10%), and accreditation status of PT programs (20%).The passing rates used for 2014-2018 PT examinations were adjusted to 60 percent and above and minimum of 50 examinees.

Based on the criteria, MMSU got an overall score of 61.19 percent. Of this rating, 24.69 percent came from weighted passing rate average, while 9 percent was from top-performing examinees; 10 percent each were from total number of examinees and accreditation level; and the remaining 7.5 percent was under faculty-student ratio.

The rankings will guide students who are planning to take any degree program in one of the colleges and universities in the country. These are important tools for parents, students, and schools seeking the right academic setting.

12th most popular school in PH

The university emerged as the  number 12 in the list of the 229 most popular higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines for 2019.

This is based on the 2019 Philippine University Rankings, a non-academic result revealing the online popularity of the universities in the country, which was released by the UniRank in early February.

UniRank (formerly 4 International College & University or 4icu.org) is an international higher education search engine and directory reviewing accredited institutions in the world.

“MMSU is a large university that offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized bachelor degrees in several areas of study, and has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations,” UniRank wrote in its website.

The top universities were selected by the UniRank using the three selection criteria:  being chartered and accredited by the appropriate Philippine HEI-related organization; offering four-year undergraduate and graduate degrees; and delivering courses predominantly in a traditional, face-to-face, non-distant education format.

“We provide a non-academic League Table of the top Philippine HEIs based on valid, unbiased and uninfluenced web metrics provided by independent web intelligence sources rather than data submitted by the universities themselves,” UniRank said.

At present, MMSU has 11 academic units offering a wide range of specializations across 66 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Most of these programs (91.89% of undergraduate courses and 95.71% of graduate courses) were accredited at various levels by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines.
