Food Innovation Center

Formerly known as the Food Processing and Innovation Center (FPIC), and was established in 2015 through the joint efforts of the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Trade and Industry. The Food Innovation Center (FIC) is committed to empowering the local food industry by providing efficient, modern food processing equipment and technologies that enhance productivity and ensure the production of high-quality products. Serving as a hub for innovation, research and development (R&D), and specialized support services, the FIC focuses on adding value to indigenous food plants and surplus vegetables abundant in Ilocos Norte. By making innovative technologies, technical expertise, essential infrastructure, and state-of-the-art facilities more accessible to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in rural areas, the Center promotes effective technology utilization through extension, deployment, and commercialization. Ultimately, the FIC drives inclusive economic growth and development by fostering product innovation, improving competitiveness, and strengthening the sustainability of local food enterprises.
