MMSU tops PH in climate action, sustains 601–800 global standing in 2026 THE Impact Sustainability Ratings

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) maintained its position in the 601–800 bracket of the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2025, according to the results released on the THE website on June 24. Remarkably, MMSU ranked first among Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) in SDG 13: Climate Action, placing in the 201-300th bracket.
The global ranking recognized over 160 HEIs in the country for their contributions to sustainable development through education, research, stewardship, and community engagement.
Looking back, the university placed 401-600th in its initial inclusion in 2022. With the guidance of then-MMSU President, now CHED Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis, and the continued support of MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., the university has consistently maintained its position in the global rankings, sustaining the 601-800 bracket for three consecutive years now.
Meanwhile, President Manzano extended his congratulations to the entire MMSU community, especially to the individuals and units that contributed to this year’s success.
Aside from SDG 13, MMSU has also made a strong standing this year on SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 5: Gender Equality, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, placing in the 301-400 bracket.
Additionally, the university ranked in the 401-600 bracket on SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 15: Life on Land, while for SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, MMSU placed at the 601-800 bracket.
Meanwhile, the university also placed in the 801-1000 mark for SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and placed in 1001-1500 for SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.
