ACHIEVE 2.0: MMSU Strategic Plan 2023-2028 launched today
By Daniel P. Tapaoan, Jr.
Committed to fully transform into a premier Philippine university, the Mariano Marcos State University launched its new strategic plan for 2023-2028 today, September 25, at the Teatro Ilocandia.
MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis led the launch of the ACHIEVE 2.0 Strategic Plan, which was followed by a covenant signing among university vice presidents, deans, directors, and chiefs.
Dr. Agrupis encouraged the university administrators to continue working together to fully transform MMSU to a premier Philippine university by 2028. “MMSU does the right way all the time when we are guided by the strategic plan,” the university president remarked. She also thanked Engr. Ami Ruth Cocson, vice president for planning and strategic foresight, and the MMSU Planning Directorate for producing the university's new strategic plan.
ACHIEVE 2.0 is an expanded and dynamic strategic plan that is responsive and resilient to the global education challenges, emerging trends, and the impacts of climate change. It presents the thematic areas, priorities, and strategies towards the university vision. It builds on the foundation of ACHIEVE 1.0, which guided the university in the past five years, with a focus on excellence, innovation, and futures thinking in all areas of university operations and processes.
Dr. Marlowe Aquino, planning director, said the new strategic plan aligns with the MMSU 4.0 – the university’s umbrella framework and roadmap for transforming its educational system to respond to the needs of Fourth Industrial Revolution.
ACHIEVE stands for Academic excellence; Creative, relevant, and innovative research programs; High impact and transformative extension and outreach programs; Improved revenue generation and resource management; Expanded external linkages and partnerships; Vibrant and engaging, culturally-focused university campus; and, Effective and efficient management.
Aside from launching the new strategic plan, the university is currently conducting its midyear planning, being attended by the university administrators.
Organized by the university planning directorate, the two-day event aims to present the accomplishments of the operating units for the half-year, discuss their issues and concerns, and craft catch-up plans. (JVBT, StratCom)
