The Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (PSABE) has conferred the prestigious Maramba Award upon MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., the highest honor bestowed by the society upon its members.
The conferment took place during the 37th Philippine Agricultural Engineering Week and the 75th PSABE Annual Convention on April 23, in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
The society recognized Dr. Manzano’s “exceptional dedication, exemplary leadership, and invaluable contributions to public service and the advancement of agricultural and biosystems engineering profession.” Dr. Manzano's research work spans precision agriculture, agro-informatics, and climate forecasting.
The Maramba Award, named after PSABE’s founder, Dr. Felix D. Maramba, Sr., is its highest honor given to its members who have made significant impact in their practice and the profession as a whole. Its awardees are agricultural and biosystems engineers who occupy roles as national leaders and researchers in academia, government and industry.
This new recognition adds yet another feather to Dr. Manzano’s cap. In February this year, he was named a Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Ambassador of the Department of Science and Technology. He had also been accredited as an ASEAN Engineer, a prestigious designation allowing him to practice his profession across Southeast Asia.
