The Mariano Marcos State University Extension Directorate showcased the university’s products at the Lakbay Palay Wet Season Activity of the Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) Batac Station on October 8.
At its exhibit booth, MMSU featured university products, including black garlic, malunggay guipang, black garlic, malunggay cookies, sukang Iloco, and bamboo propagules. It also showcased products from partner farmers and local livelihood groups, such as rice coffee, malunggay powder, turmeric tea, tanglad (lemongrass) juice, and dragon fruit products.
The booth also featured informative videos on "Heat Stress and Dehydration for Farmers" and "Hydrating Vegetables,” as well as reading materials on crop and livestock production that provided additional farming insights and knowledge to the visitors and farmer participants.
Recognizing these efforts, DA-PhilRice Batac awarded MMSU a certificate of appreciation along with the other partner groups for its long-term partnership and shared commitment in supporting local farmers in the province.
With the theme, "PhilRice’s Best: Handa Laban sa El Niño,” the activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and preparedness of farmers and other stakeholders on the ongoing El Niño phenomenon. Through interactive learning, technology demonstrations, guided tours, institutional exhibits, and farmer-partner testimonies, participants learned strategies to mitigate the effects of El Niño in their own farms.
Other exhibitors included the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), private agricultural companies, and other local farmer cooperatives. (𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘺 𝘎𝘢𝘯𝘰)
