The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) honored Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) as one of the top-performing psychometrician schools in the country during the oathtaking ceremony for newly licensed psychometricians at the Philippine International Convention Center today, October 9.
The Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Psychology formally conferred MMSU a Certificate of Recognition for ranking first among colleges and universities nationwide with 50 to 99 examinees in the September 2026 Psychometricians Licensure Examination (PMLE).
The university tallied a perfect passing rate, with all 54 examinees successfully hurdling the board examination, seven of whom are topnotchers.
PRC Chairperson Charito Zamora, PRB of Psychology Chairperson Miriam Cue, and Board Member Hector Perez signed and conferred the distinction, which was accepted by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Dean Marlina Lino.
The national recognition seals the historic run of the university’s pioneer batch of BS in Psychology graduates, who also produced seven national topnotchers: Wincy Tumalip Ayunon (4th); Maria Alyssa Castillejos and Mark Stephen Ipac (7th); Ricka Sarah Gumarang and Mark JC Pascual (8th); Ariel Cesar Antonio, Jr. (9th); and Moyrah Shaina Colobong (10th).
In her address charging the new psychometricians, Dr. Cue underscored the responsibility resting on the shoulders of the country's newest batch of registered professionals.
“Pending registration, your license will soon be in your hands. Your profession is now in your care, and the trust of the nation is now yours to honor. Go forth and make every measure matter,” Cue stressed.
University President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., commended the graduates for bringing honor to MMSU and challenged the college and the Department of Social Sciences to sustain the achievement in the years to come.
“The outstanding performance of our pioneer psychology graduates only proves that we were right in offering BS Psychology because we were ready and capable of producing psychology professionals,” Dr. Manzano said, adding, “There are still many ways for us to improve, and in improving our offered programs, expect the full support of the administration.”
Expressing her profound joy for the historic achievement, Dr. Lino, who personally accepted the certificate, said, “God is so amazing! We feel so blessed with this award!”
MMSU’s BS in Psychology program, housed under CAS, welcomed its first batch of students in Academic Year 2022-2023. It remains the college’s only undergraduate degree program with a PRC-regulated licensure examination.
