Music and melodies filled the MMSU Student Center on October 10 as the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Nasudi Chorale held a benefit concert to raise funds for its upcoming national choral competition, on October 16-18 in Sorsogon City.
Titled “MMSU Nasudi Chorale for Ad Meridiem: A Send-Off Concert to the 1st Kasanggayahan Tingog Sorsoganon,” the concert aimed to help cover the group’s participation expenses.
To encourage more people to support the initiative, the chorale adopted a “General Admission, Pay-What-You-Can Contribution” scheme, allowing attendees to enter the venue through voluntary monetary contributions based on their willingness and capacity to give, without a fixed admission fee.
The event gathered alumni, cultural advocates, students, and members of the public, who came together to express support for the chorale. Through the group’s performance, the group showcased its musical versatility and artistry while highlighting Ilocano culture and identity through its repertoire.
Preparing to represent MMSU on the national stage, the chorale continues to welcome any voluntary contributions and sponsorships from the general public and other organizations to help meet its funding needs for the upcoming national tilt.
Tingog Sorsoganon is a national choral festival and competition that brings together choirs from across the Philippines to compete in the folk, sacred, and mixed choir categories, showcasing cultural heritage through choral music and the arts.
