3 MMSU chiefs complete CHED training on AI integration

Three officials from Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) completed the "Advancing Technology in Tertiary Education through Artificial Intelligence (ATTAIn)" program under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) HUSAY Scholarship, reinforcing the university's commitment to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into higher education.

The two-week capability-building program, conducted by the National Teachers College (NTC), ran from June 15 to 26, 2026.

Representing MMSU were Dr. Mark Joseph D. Pastor, Chief of the International Programs Office; Dr. Regie B. Fabro, Chief of the Open and Distance eLearning Programs; and Dr. May Flor C. Rivera, Chief of the Center for Inclusive Early Childhood Education (CIECE). They were among the scholars selected from higher education institutions across the country.

MMSU President Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. said equipping the university's workforce with AI competencies is essential in preparing the institution for the future of higher education.

"Empowering our workforce with the knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence enables us to respond to the changing demands of higher education. That is why we are grateful for initiatives like the CHED HUSAY Scholarship Program that helps us strengthen our capacity to deliver quality public service," said Dr. Manzano.

The ATTAIn program equipped participants with practical knowledge and skills for integrating AI into higher education. The training covered emerging technologies, AI ethics and governance, AI-enhanced teaching and learning strategies, research applications, productivity tools, and institutional innovations that support digital transformation.

The scholars are expected to apply these competencies in their respective offices, contributing to the university's efforts to enhance academic programs, institutional processes, and learner-centered services through responsible AI adoption.

The CHED HUSAY Scholarship Program develops the competencies of higher education professionals through specialized training in cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence, supporting the digital transformation of Philippine higher education institutions.
