PJM holds open dialogue with MMSU students

Recognizing the pivotal perspectives of the university’s primary stakeholders, MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. engaged in an open conversation with student leaders and campus journalists representing their respective colleges on July 15 at the MMSU Cafeteria.

Dubbed “Kapihan with the President”, the students actively asked questions regarding the welfare of the learners, including the safety, security, and conduciveness of MMSU spaces. The participants likewise discussed ways to improve the room-to-room movement of students within the campus for their classes.

The students also opened up about funding for necessary laboratory resources and for basic operations for organizations and college-based publications. The president, with encouragement and support, advised the students to draft their proposals for the administration to assess the feasibility of their suggestions.

As an MMSU alumnus himself, President Manzano emphasized that he understands students' concerns. He then expressed his administration’s continued support for student welfare, noting that it has always been the top consideration in their decision-making.

Organized by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), led by its director, Prof. Lawrence John Tagata, the event had Dr. Manzano answer the students’ queries together with Vice Presidents Dr. Aris Reynold Cajigal (Academic Affairs), Dr. Bjorn Santos (Resource Generation and Management), and Dr. Nathaniel Alibuyog (Research, Development, and Innovation).

The event also doubled as the participating students greeted Dr. Manzano, who celebrated his birthday on the same day. On behalf of the student body, MMSU Student Regent Hon. Daniel Corrales and SIRMATA Editor-in-Chief Rejenlei Karyl Fabro extended their heartfelt birthday greetings to the president.
