The Araneta Thai Alumni Chapter of De La Salle Araneta University (DLSAU) paid a courtesy visit to Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) on February 3 as part of their official Philippine trip from January 30 to February 5.

The delegation was led by Dr. Chairat Chantasaltool, President of the Araneta Thai Alumni Chapter, and Engr. Antonio Magno, past President of the Alumni Association. They were welcomed by MMSU President Virgilio Julius Manzano, Jr., along with Vice President for Resource Generation and Management Bjorn Santos, Dr. Eva Jean Viernes, and Dr. Shiela Baquiran.

As a DLSAU alumnus, Dr. Manzano encouraged members to initiate collaborative programs that give back to their alma mater. “Alumni engagement is rooted in collective giving. We have to give back to DLSAU to enable shared initiatives and stronger institutional partnerships,” he said.

He also shared MMSU’s ongoing initiatives, particularly in resource management, expressing optimism for future collaboration with alumni working in various professional sectors. Dr. Manzano further conveyed his gratitude to the alumni association for conferring on him the University Outstanding Alumnus award at DLSAU.

Meanwhile, the alumni delegation held breakout sessions with students from the BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Food Technology, and BS Tourism and Hospitality Management programs. The sessions provided students with insights into professional practice, industry trends, and international opportunities.

The delegation likewise toured the National Bioenergy Research Center (NBERIC), where they were briefed on MMSU’s research initiatives in renewable energy and sustainable resource utilization, including the university’s contributions to innovation and sustainability.
