MMSU garners International Research Awards at IRCIEST 2025

Earning international recognition for research excellence, Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) garnered four major distinctions, three Best Presenter Awards and one Best Paper Award at the 7th International Research Conference on Innovations in Engineering, Science, and Technology (IRCIEST 2025), held at Batangas State University from October 22 to 24.
With the theme “Engineering the Future: Transformative Research for Global Advancement,” the conference gathered leading researchers, academics, and innovators from the Philippines and abroad to promote sustainability-driven advancements in engineering, science, and technology. It emphasized the importance of collaboration, research integration, and technological development in addressing global challenges and fostering inclusive growth.
MMSU’s Best Presenter Awards were conferred on Dr. Emie Mirasol (Materials Science and Additive Manufacturing), Dr. Roselle Mamuad (Energy and Environment), and Dr. Bobby Eclarin (Cybersecurity and Computer Vision). Dr. Mirasol’s paper, “Fabricated Mesoporous SiO₂-C Nanocomposites Anode Derived from Philippine Rice Hull for Enhanced Lithium-Ion Battery Performance,” also won the prestigious Best Paper Award, earning a ₱10,000 cash prize. The study was recognized for its innovation potential and contribution to sustainable energy solutions.
One among the universities that co-hosted the event, MMSU delegation, led by Dr. Sharona Q. Barroga, Dean of the College of Engineering, actively participated in plenary and technical sessions. Dr. Barroga also served as a moderator, while Engr. Thomas Ubina represented MMSU as a panel speaker in the session “Innovations in Green Technologies: Addressing Emission Challenges for a Sustainable Future.” His presentation, “The MMSU Net Zero Energy Building (NZEB) Journey,” highlighted the university’s pioneering programs toward achieving a Net Zero Energy Campus, emphasizing energy efficiency, renewable integration, and sustainability in higher education.
Other MMSU representatives included Dr. Eric Halabaso and Engr. Arlene Rugian as moderators, and Dr. Bobby Eclarin, Dr. Emie Mirasol, Dr. Roselle Mamuad, Architect Emerson Bolibol, Engr. Ryan Jade Quibael, and Engr. Kendrick Cyrus Acidera, who presented cutting-edge research across various technical sessions. Beyond its strong showing in presentations, MMSU also engaged in collaborative discussions with local and international universities, paving the way for future partnerships in research, innovation, and faculty development.
The performance of MMSU at IRCIEST 2025 reiterates its rising international reputation for research leadership and its pledge to advancing transformative and sustainable innovations, contributing to national and global scientific progress.
