2 MMSU Engineering students advance to regional statistics quiz finals

Two students from Mariano Marcos State University- College of Engineering (COE) will advance to the regional statistics quiz finals, after winning top spots in the recently concluded Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Elimination held on October 17 at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) โ€“ Ilocos Norte.
Charles Adrian Fruelda emerged as the provincial champion, while Ezekiel Arellano secured second place. Both are first-year students under the BS Civil Engineering program of the COE.
As the top two winners of the provincial round, Fruelda and Arellano have earned the honor of representing Ilocos Norte in the PSQ Regional Finals to be held on November 6 in San Fernando City, La Union.
Meanwhile, Benedict John Badua, a first-year BS Chemical Engineering student, also performed impressively, placing fourth in the same competition.
The winning students were mentored by coaches, Prof. Liliwa Olalo, Engr. Jonas Paul de la Cruz, and Mr. Carl Mark James Remedios. They will formally receive their award on October 30 at SM City Laoag during the culmination program of the National Statistics Month (NSM)- Provincial celebration.
Organized annually by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as part of the National Statistics Month, the PSQ aims to assess the statistical proficiency of college freshmen, promote awareness and appreciation of the value of statistics, and foster greater public understanding of its importance in national and community development.
