8 clubs launched: 7 for sports enthusiasts, 1 for topnotchers

To energizeing campus life, MMSU President Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr. led the launch of eight new university clubs on October 28 at the Center for Flexible Learning. Seven clubs were organized by sports enthusiasts and one by licensure exmination topnotchers.
The sports clubs include the Cycling Club led by Mr. Ericson Agcaoili; Darts Club led by Mr. Alex Martinez; Basketball Club led by Prof. Clarence Ordonia; Badminton Smashers led by Mr. Jorge Adriano; Stallions Chess Club led by Chen-Hyrone Jan-Jeie Campos; Paddle Alliance (Pickleball) led by Prof. Joselito Custodio; and Table Tennis Club led by Mr. Mark Angelo Barangangay.
Prof. Ryan Dean Sucgang, Director of the Human Movement and Artistic Innovations Center, explained that MMSU sports clubs were established with the SUCCEED objectives in mind. These objectives aim to strengthen skills and sportsmanship, unite the university community through teamwork and collaboration, cultivate a culture of excellence, promote health and well-being, engage with the community through sports development programs, empower student-athletes as leaders and ambassadors, and drive sustainable and inclusive sports development.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aira Cassandra Castro-Agra, who placed first in the 2023 Physicians Licensure Examination, introduced the Topnotchers Club. This newly formalized organization for MMSU graduates who rank in the top 10 of a board or bar exam aims to inspire and support academic excellence within the university community through mentorship, recognition of outstanding achievements, and the promotion of a culture of diligence and integrity for professional success.
President Manzano, a topnotcher of the 1994 Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Board Examination and an active athlete, expressed his support to clubs' objectives.
The newly established clubs are expected to make the university community more vibrant and engaged by promoting camaraderie, wellness, and active participation through their respective sports and interests.
