In just eight months at the helm, MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr. initiated a clear infrastructure agenda, leading the October 28 groundbreaking and blessing ceremonies. These include eight new and ongoing facilities which are designed to transform MMSU into a truly premier university.
The ceremonies were part of the series of events held during “The 8th MMSU Administration: The First 8 Months of the SUCCEED Vision in Action.” The multiple infrastructure projects and facilities, located across various sites within the more than 300-hectare main campus in Batac, showcased the administration’s initial efforts to advance the SUCCEED agenda and realize the new university vision through the development of modern facilities and academic infrastructure.
Along with President Manzano were the members of the Board of Regents including Hon. Pia Maria Barbara Mirca Crisologo-Cua, Hon. Rex-Belli Alejandro, and Hon. Edriane Gerby Maloom. They were also accompanied by the university vice presidents, members of the University Academic Council, MMSU employees, and students.
The first facility inaugrlurated was the Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station - Beta Attenuation Monitor of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) Region 1, in collaboration with the university through the Sustainability and Futures Thinking Office. The station is situated near the College of Engineering. The project aims to continuously measure and record air pollutants in real-time. It was graced by Mr. Jayson Paolo Resultay who represented DENR OIC-Regional Director Nicanor Esteban.
The event continued with the unveiling of the modern billboard featuring the previous MMSU Presidents, including the new university vision, facilitated by the Office for Strategic Communication. The President’s official portrait was also presented, which was sketched by Mr. Jayson Bulatao of the Office of the University Registrar.
Afterwhich, PJM, along with the university officials and guests led the groundbreaking of new infrastructure projects under the Manzano administration, which include the MMSU Twin Gate and Road System, the University Grandstand, and the College of Dentistry Building. Said infrastructure projects are under the supervision of the University Physical Planning and Development Office.
Furthermore, the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new four-storey CBEA Extension Building and the Veterinary Medicine Wet Laboratory in Tabug, City of Batac proceeded. The lactation rooms of the Center for Gender and Development (CGAD) located at the College of Medicine was also blessed. Other lactation rooms in the university can be found at the FEM Hall, the College of Business, Economics and Accountancy (CBEA), and the Infirmary.
PJM expressed his appreciation to the entire MMSU community for its support to these initiatives, in an aim to forward world-class standards through the university’s infrastructures. He further encouraged everyone to actively participate and be involved in the administration’s programs for the betterment of MMSU and the community.
“These physical projects, along with our future plans are our steps toward our aim to become a premier university in Southeast Asia by 2033,” the President said.
