MACD leads clean-up drive in MMSU
By Stephanie Camille Ilar
As support to the promotion of cleaner spaces within the university, the MMSU Advocates for Cultural Development (MACD) initiated their monthly clean-up drive dubbed "πππ’π¨ππͺππͺπ―πͺπ΄" on October 24 around the university ground, Student Center, and some parts of the University Lagoon.
Participated by officers of MACD, around 30 bags of wastes were collected. These wastes varied and were segregated from plastic, paper, and tin materials.
As cultural advocates and pride of the indigenous peoples, MACD president Charles Jasper Mamawag, said that they want to extend their capabilities to have a better environment, especially within the vicinity of Mariano Marcos State University.
βAs IP members and cultural advocates, our goals are not limited to culturally-related activities. We can widen our projects to help with the advocacies of the university,β Mamawag added.
The monthly activity is also a way for the organization to let more people in the university know that there is a representation for the students who are members of IP communities.
As the growing organization starts to convene all IP and cultural student advocates in MMSU, it plans to expand the recruitment of members in the university. Mamawag looks forward to conducting the clean-up drive, not only with the organizationβs officers, but with all MACD members, in more university premises in the following months.
