Ilocano inventors urged to showcase marketable inventions

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has called on inventors from various parts of Region 1 to showcase their inventions at the 2018 National Inventors Week (NIW) set on November 20-23 at MMSUTeatro Ilocandia.

DOST- Ilocos Norte Director Jonathan Viernes said the agency expects some 50 exhibitors to present their inventions and innovative products at the three-day event dubbed as “Inventrepinoy for sustainable growth and prosperity.”

The DOST organized the event in collaboration with the Filipino Inventors Society Producer Cooperative, Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI), MMSU, Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, and the City of Batac.

Viernes said the annual event aims to showcase unique and marketable inventions of Filipinos for the community. It features technology and invention exhibits, technology fora, training and workshop and bazaar among others.

The event also highlights a workshop on entrepreneurship and financial management for interested participants.

The technology fora will feature the role of State Universities and Colleges and Higher Education Institutions in developing inventor-entrepreneurs towards sustainable economic development, the role of local government units in developing local inventors to become innovative “inventrepinoy” or inventor-entrepreneurs, inventors’ journey to success, and fund sourcing, among others.
