Dr. Julia Crowley, a University of Missouri faculty researcher, visited MMSU and served as a lecturer on February 20, at the Teatro Ilocandia.

During the lecture forum on Single-Use Plastics, Dr. Crowley encouraged MMSU students to serve as respondents for her research on plastic bag consumption as part of the collaborative effort to address the global plastic pollution crisis.

Furthermore, she discussed a step-by-step guide for conducting research, including her study on plastic consumption in the province.

Dr. Charlie Batin, the dean of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development (CAFSD), thanked Dr. Crowley for choosing the University to share her revered expertise. He also highlighted the importance of conducting environmental forums against the looming threat of global pollution.

“As students of MMSU, you play a vital role in addressing the pervasive issue of single-use plastics to your unique perspectives, energy, and capacity to influence change,” he said.

Aside from the lecture forum, MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis welcomed Dr. Crowley through a courtesy call. MMSU and the University of Missouri have agreed to a research collaboration on the “Occurrence and KSA Analysis of Dengue Occurrence in Ilocos Norte.”
