Three scribes of The Mahogany, official student publication of the Laboratory High School–Science Curriculum, won during the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held Dec. 15-18, 2008 at the Daniel Maramba National High School in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. The conference bannered the theme: \"Global warming: A call for responsible campus journalism\".

Daniel B. Quigao, first year, placed second in photojournalism while Addilou Fidelfio E. Abad, third year, won in two categories: second place in feature writing and fifth, editorial writing. Also, Shermaigne S. Abut, fourth year, finished seventh in sports writing. All of the awards won were under the Filipino language category.

Mr. Ariston Lorenzo and Prof. Marlene Cabagan served as coaches of the competing team.
