<B><I><P align=left><FONT face=Verdana size=5>Sirmata</FONT></I><FONT face=Verdana size=5> staffers win in national collegiate press tilt</FONT></P></B>
SIRMATA, the official publication of the college students of MMSU, reaped awards in the 9th Higher Education Press Conference last Feb. 11-14 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Competing against 273 colleges and universities, the paper was adjudged second in the competition for best sports page. Sirmata illustrator Joseph Calamaan, a third year BSIE student, won second place in comic strip drawing (Filipino category) while associcate editor Ma. Isabella Alice Paz, a BSBA-MA sophomore, ranked third in feature writing (English category).
In the regional qualifying competition held Nov. 28-Dec. 1 last year, Sirmata and its scribes copped 28 major awards, reaffirming its position as the most awarded university paper in the region and in Luzon.
