MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis has been inducted as a regular member of the prestigious Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) today, September 8, at the Grand Ballroom A&B of Shangri-La at The Fort. She is one of only two university heads among the 10 new members of the association.

The induction ceremony, administered by MAP President Rogelio Singson, was part of the joint general membership meeting of MAP and the People Management Association of the Philippines.

MAP is a 72-year-old organization composed of a cross-section of chief executive officers (CEOs), chief operations officers, and other top management practitioners from the largest local and multinational companies and institutions operating in the Philippines. Membership to the association is by sponsorship and invitation only.

President Agrupis expressed gratitude to the sponsors and to the organization for her membership, saying she feels humbled to be in the presence of eminent personalities in the field of management. “I stand to learn a lot from the depth and breadth of experience of members of the association, and I also look forward in doing my share in pursuing MAP’s mission of promoting management excellence for nation-building,” she expressed.

PSCA’s nomination for MAP membership was sponsored by Mr. Oscar Torralba and Atty. Francisco Ed Lim, MAP members. Torralba is the chair and CEO of Town Holding Corporation and private sector representative of the MMSU Board of Regents, while Lim is a senior legal counsel of the Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices. Her membership was approved by the MAP Board of Governors and Membership Committee. MAP currently has 1,085 members.

The joint meeting had the theme, “Human Capital: Be Competitive or Die.” Key speakers were Congressman Mark Go, chairman of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education and MMSU BOR member; and Dr. Aniceto Orbeta Jr., president of the Philippine Institute of Development Studies.
