Outstanding employees, units receive awards

       MMSU employees who excelled in their work for the past year were awarded plaques of recognition and cash during the Programs on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) at the Teatro Ilocandia yesterday, January 25.

       Aside from these employees, two units were awarded for service excellence to their students and clientele.

       Dr. Cheryll Didi Nellie N. Obra of the CHS’ Physical Therapy Department was awarded for being an outstanding teacher, while Prof. Josephine P. Ceria of the CHS Extension Directorate (ED) was awarded as outstanding extension worker. Also, Federico R. Tutaan Jr. and Rodel T. Utrera, both from the Research Directorate, were awarded as outstanding research support staff, and researcher, respectively.

       On the other hand, the Extension was conferred the Rimat Award for its exemplary role in the training of stakeholders and transfering research results and mature technologies to the intended beneficiaries for commercialization, while the Department of Biological Sciences of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) was confered the Timpuyog Award for the exemplary unity of its staff in delivering quality academic services to its students and clientele.

       Aside from these, nine other best performing programs and 10 individuals were conferred the Presidential Awards for exemplary performance in  licensure examinations last year. These are: BS Accountancy, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Nursing, BS Pharmacy,  BS Agriculture, BS Forestry,  BSIE/BTTE programs,  BEED, and Bachelor of Laws.

       The university’s 2017 licensure examination topnotchers also received certificates of recognition and P3,000 each for their achievement: Quenna May Sagayadoro Galicinao (5th placer, Nursing Licensure Examination), Angelu Gabrielle Eufemia Castro (8th placer, NLE), Charmaine Zamuco (7th placer, Agriculturist Licensure Examination), Hazel Achuela (9th placer, ALE), and Louis Robianes Cascayan and Lyca Faith Pasion (both 9th placers, NLE).

       The following MMSU staff were also recognized for garnering awards in various international and national competitions last year: Shirley C. Agrupis and James Paul Madigal (AFMA Best R&D Paper Gold Award in Basic Research, 29th National Research Symposium, DA-BAR); Emie Mirasol (Best paper Award in Material Science and Biochemistry, 3rd International Research Conference on Innovation in Engineering S&T); Nathaniel Ericson Mateo and Shirley Agrupis (Best Paper Award, 3rd International Research Conference on Innovation in Engineering S&T); and J.P. Madigal, S.C. Agrupis, Francisco Elegado, Nacita Lantical, and Jessica Simbahan (First Place, 2017 National Congress of the International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences, MMSU)-- (R.E.Andres) .
