<font style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: Verdana;\" size=\"5\">New research director, AO appointed</font>

DR. NATHANIEL Rabang Alibuyog, assistant professor of agricultural engineering, and Prof. Andres Yague Tungpalan, associate professor of biological sciences, were appointed director for research and director for administrative services, respectively, in a special order released Nov. 13 by President Miriam E. Pascua.

The research director    

Alibuyog is presently the chief of the Regional Bioenergy Research and Development Center based at MMSU and the project leader for water management of the Research and Development Program on Sweet Sorgum of the university. He just finished this year his Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering (AE) from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños, Laguna. He obtained also from the same school in 2003 his M.Sin AE. He graduated magna cum laude from MMSU in 1994 and later occupied the second top spot in the Licensure Examination for Agricultural Engineers given the next year..

The administrative officer

Professor Tungpalan is currently the academic faculty’s representative to the Board of Regents in his capacity as president of MMSU’s Federated Faculty Association. Aside from this, he is member of the following university committees:  Personnel Exchange, Sabbaticals, and Professional Visits; Bids and Awards Committee on Infrastructure/Civil Works; Investigation; Academic Policies Review; and University Faculty and Academic Staff Selection and Promotion.

He is completing his dissertation for his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Santo Tomas where he also finished his M.S. in Biology.  He obtained his B.S. in Biological Science from the University of the East.

He will assume his new office upon expiration of his term as faculty regent. As such, Vice President R.A. Leaño concurrently serves as director for administrative services.
