<P><FONT face=Verdana size=5><STRONG>MMSU TO HOST US VISITING PROFESSOR</STRONG></FONT></P>
Dr. Fiorello B. Abenes, professor emeritus of animal and veterinary sciences at the California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, USA, will be spending six months in the university as visiting professor under the Fulbright Fellowship Program.
He will formally start his stay in the university on Feb. 23 and will be hosted by CAS, CAF, and the Research Directorate.
A special program will be held Feb. 25, 8:30 a.m., at the University Training Center where he will share his plans and programs and sign the memorandum of agreement for his stay in the university. He will also deliver a lecture.
During his stay, he will work on cellulose ethanol research, provide consultancy and expert services on animal nutrition, and give lectures on the same topic to students and faculty members of related fields or interest.
Upon his arrival, he will donate 1 spectrophotometer with paired sample cells, 3 laptop computers, 1 photo printer, 1 desktop computer, 1 laser printer, and 1 box of books for the library.
He is a professional animal scientist, teacher, and scholar with over 35 years of diversified work experience in private industry, agricultural extension, university teaching, and research in the United States, Canada, and the Philippines.
He trained in the areas of animal industries, animal breeding, nutrition, and reproductive physiology at the University of Connecticut. He has been at Cal Poly University since 1986 and was awarded early tenure and promotion to full professor in 1991.
He graduated as cum laude from CLSU in 1969. He received the Most Distinguished Alumnus Award during the university’s celebration of its 100th year.
