MMSU got 2 AFMA R&D paper award
TWO research papers from the MMSU were awarded Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act (AFMA) R&D Paper during the 23rd National Research Symposium (NRS) conducted by the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR), Oct. 9-11. These were among the 63 papers recognized by BAR out of the 126 submissions this year.
The papers were: “Agro-morphological profile of traditional upland rices in Ilocos by Menisa Antonio, Araceli Badar, Epifania Agustin, Dionisio Jamias, Illuminada Dumaoal, Dionisio Bucao, and Mary Anne Gorospe; and “Women adoption: Chemical-free production technology in white-flowered gourd†by Beatriz Malab, Marissa Atis, Lolita Tomas, and Nataliza Llapitan. The paper by Antonio and others also captured the Best Research Paper award during ILARRDEC’s Regional Symposium on R&D Highlights.
Antonio and Malab, main authors of the papers, received the cash prize of P10,000 each.
MMSU has been a consistent awardee in the NRS. In 2009 and 2010, the university captured the AFMA Best R&D Paper Award. The AFMA Research Paper Award is given by BAR to researchers’ works of that result to new technologies, information, processes, and systems beneficial to the agriculture and fisheries sectors. This year’s symposium theme was “Harnessing research for safe and healthy food and agri-fishery productsâ€.
