Prof. Andres Y. Tungpalan, MMSU Federated Faculty Association president, was selected head of the Federation of Government Employees Association of Region I, an organization composed of all national and local agencies in the region and organized by the Civil Service Commission.

First to be established in the country, the regional group was formed to initiate efforts in rationalizing all entitlements and benefits due to all employees in the region as well as to serve as forum for discussing issues and concerns affecting government labor and for exchanging of ideas for the uniformity of practices in the region.

In their meeting last Feb. 4, the group drafted their constitution and by-laws which focused on the commonality of practices of all concerned agencies in the region especially in terms of employee benefits. They also agreed to establish a provident fund to be available in all agencies to assist employees on loans and medical needs. They further agreed to rationalize the giving of assistance such as rice allowance to all government employees in the region.

Ms. Carlina Pascua, president of the MMSU Association of Non-teaching and Administrative Personnel, was also elected treasurer of the association.
