After undergoing renovation, the University Chapel was rededicated through a prayer service led by Reverend Bucalen Saboy, professor emeritus of the university, with administrators, faculty members, staff, and students in attendance.

In her short message during the service, President Miriam Pascua announced that the chapel may be used by students and employees for meditation, prayer gatherings, and thanksgiving activities. Believing that spiritual growth is a requisite for well-rounded development, the president then directed the Student Services and Development Office to promote undertakings for spiritual enrichment.

The event also served as a thanksgiving activity for the many blessings MMSU received in the past months, including MMSU’s recent six-peat victory in the SCUAA-I Meet.

The renovation and refurbishment of the University Chapel, which was first dedicated during the administration of the late Dr. Elias Calacal, fourth MMSU president, took place under the supervision of Dr. Marilou Lucas, who was designated by President Pascua as in-charge of the said religious facility. Dr. Lucas coordinates the use of the chapel which is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The structure was originally built as a Colloquium Center during the time of Dr. Consuelo Blanco, the first MMSU president.
