Students and employees of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) together with members of the community, availed free mental health consultations from university’s Psychological Assistance for Training, Evaluation, and Growth (PATEG) Center today, October 23, in observance of World Mental Health Day and ADHD Awareness Month.

Held at the MMSU Primary Care Facility, the initiative was conducted to promote mental health awareness and provide accessible psychological support to the public. The services offered included psychological consultations and intake screening, specialized screening for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and adult autism, and medical consultations for differential assessment.

To accommodate individuals who could not visit the center in person, the PATEG Center also offered online consultations through Zoom.

The consultations were facilitated by registered psychologists, guidance counselors, volunteer licensed alumni psychometricians, and medical professionals who provided professional counsel and support.

For Ms. Christine Joy Lim, PATEG Center chief, the activity wouldn’t be possible without the shared advocacy of the faculty, alumni, students, and the university in making wellness support more accessible.

“This is not something that I can do on my own and I'm all praise to the volunteers who really took time, effort, and even resources just to make this happen,” she added.

Alongside PATEG Center, the activity was co-organized by the MMSU Health and Wellness Services and the MMSU Psyche Society, in partnership with the Psychological Association of the Philippines- Northern Luzon Chapter (PAP-NL).

Through this initiative, MMSU continues to uphold its commitment in promoting mental health awareness and psychological well-being of the university and the wider community.
