PJM leads MMSU delegation to 2026 Presidential Filipinnovation Awards

Mariano Marcos State University President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. spearheaded the university delegation at the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards National Competition 2026, held from September 2 to 3 at the Crowne Plaza Manila, where top innovators and researchers were recognized.

Accompanying PJM were Department of Business Administration faculty member Ms. Remalyn dela Rosa, as well as Ms. Krisha Faith Pasion and Ms. Fiona Elle Syzette Tenedor, BS Entrepreneurship and BS in Agribusiness students, respectively.

Organized by the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development as the secretariat of the National Innovation Council, the two-day event gathered leaders across government, academia, and industry to celebrate the country’s top local innovators, technologies, and research-driven initiatives. 

The Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges invited university heads to the awarding, encouraging academic institutions to explore public-private partnerships, engage with technological leaders, and align campus research and development agendas with national economic priorities.

As a leading regional hub for agricultural innovation, renewable energy studies, and community-driven transfer, this event provided the MMSU delegation with exposure to emerging technologies, commercialization frameworks, and strategic networking opportunities. 
 

In the awarding, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. conferred five Filipino innovators the Presidential Filipinnovation Award. Each received a ₱2.5 million cash grant for their respective projects, and ₱1 million worth of expert mentorship and post-competition support.

Commission on Higher Education Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis also graced the event to speak to the innovators and leaders about the role of innovation and research in national development.
