MMSU-CTE students share language learning experiences at 8th Int’l Youth Talk

Students of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) - College of Teacher Education (CTE) shared their language-learning experiences and insights during the 8th International Virtual Youth Talk on August 21.

Jethro Nicolas, Zyda Ysobel Manglal-lan, and Kevin Angelo Castillo, all pursuing a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, shared how language can bridge gaps between people’s perspectives in their community, cultural differences, and their understanding of the world.

They noted that while language can create communication barriers, it ultimately serves as a key to building stronger connections among people when used effectively.

Centered on the theme “How Learning Languages Changed My Worldview,” students from across Vietnam, China, Indonesia, and the Philippines joined together to exchange cultural knowledge and share perspectives about the vital role of language in cross-cultural spaces.

The International Youth Talk is a virtual dialogue session focused on helping youth participants improve their knowledge and practices regarding diverse topics like cross-cultural communication.

The event is organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED) and the China-ASEAN Technical Education Cooperation Platform (CATECP), with PASITA and other partner organizations.
