MMSU CARE initiatives featured at energy efficiency and conservation nat'l confab

The MMSU Center for Affiliated Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and Conservation (MMSU-CARE) joined experts from across the country in the discussions on energy efficiency and conservation during the 2nd Philippine Conference on Energy Efficiency and Conservation (PCEEC) on July 29–31 at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila.
The university delegation was led by MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., and composed of MMSU CARE Project Leader Engr. Thomas Ubiña, Engr. Psalm David Pastor, and Engr. Darren Pasalo. Their participation is part of MMSU's support for national efforts to promote renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable technology through research, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
Engr. Ubiña served as moderator for the Policy Governance: Panel Discussion and Q&A, facilitating discussions among industry leaders, policymakers, and experts on strategies and policy directions that support the country's energy efficiency and conservation agenda.
Meanwhile, the session “Building Energy Research and Knowledge Development Campus as a Living Laboratory: What MMSU's NZEB and CARE Research Data Reveal About Building Energy Performance Metrics in the Philippine Context” featured a presentation on how campus-based research can generate data to strengthen building energy performance assessments and support evidence-based energy-efficiency policies and practices in the Philippines. Engr. Ubiña delivered the presentation on behalf of President Manzano.
Organized by the Department of Energy (DOE), PCEEC serves as a national platform where policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and academic institutions exchange knowledge, present innovations, and discuss policies and technologies that advance the country's energy efficiency and conservation agenda.
As the university's unit for renewable energy research and energy efficiency initiatives, MMSU-CARE leads projects focused on sustainable technology development, capacity building, and research-based solutions that support national energy priorities and community needs. The center operates under the National Bioenergy Research and Innovation Center (NBERIC) and is recognized by the DOE for its contributions to renewable energy and energy efficiency through research, education, and commercialization support.
