As MMSU makes strides in lifelong learning and flexible education, delegation attends CHED RO1 summit

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) took part in the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHED RO1) Lifelong Learning Summit on July 28 to 29 in Calasiao, Pangasinan, as the university expands initiatives that promote lifelong learning and flexible education for more Filipinos.
Representing MMSU were Dr. Aris Reynold Cajigal, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Joel Lopez, director for Curriculum Development and Innovative Learning (CDIL); Dr. Regie Boy Fabro, chief for Open and Distance e-Learning (ODeL); and Dr. Robert Salvador, chief for Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP).
The two-day summit, attended by over 110 participants from higher education institutions in the region, featured CHED Commissioner Michelle Aguilar-Ong, who emphasized the need for institutions to develop accessible, high-quality pathways for learners through non-conventional education, institutional lifelong learning frameworks, and the expansion of flexible learning pathways.
Through the CDIL, MMSU continues to expand its flexible learning offerings by strengthening its ETEEAP implementation for eight degree programs and securing government authority to offer seven degree programs through ODeL. These initiatives provide more opportunities for students, working professionals, and lifelong learners to pursue higher education through flexible learning modes.
The MMSU delegation's participation and the continued expansion of both ETEEAP and ODeL align with the Strategic Access and Equity pillar of MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr.'s SUCCEED Agenda, which expands access to quality higher education through innovative and learner-centered academic programs.
The summit is under CHED's A.C.H.I.E.V.E. 2030 agenda, particularly the Advanced and Accessible Lifelong Learning pillar, which helps higher education institutions develop flexible, inclusive, and globally relevant learning systems.
