University of Antique learns from MMSU merit and promotion system

Officials of the University of Antique Federation of Faculty Association, Inc. (UAFFedFA, Inc.) paid a benchmarking visit to Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) to learn the university’s merit and promotion system at the Center for Flexible Learning on January 26.
Led by Dr. Dolorosa Pajarillo, President of UAFFedFA, Inc., the delegation reviewed the fundamental requirements of MMSU’s faculty promotion system and other institutional practices. The benchmarking visit sought to gather insights into effective faculty governance, organizational management, and academic support mechanisms.
Prof. Rex-Belli Alejandro, President of the MMSU Faculty Association, Inc. (FAI), outlined the core elements of the university’s merit system, highlighting personnel management frameworks and standards, public sector unionism, and other personnel-related actions. He also explained the faculty Merit Promotion Plan, detailing its general merit qualifications and point-based evaluation scheme.
Meanwhile, the delegation also paid a courtesy visit to MMSU President Virgilio Julius Manzano, Jr., where they engaged in a brief discussion on the university’s commitment to academic excellence, faculty welfare, and institutional development.
The benchmarking activity equipped the UAFFEdFA, Inc. delegates with insights into MMSU’s best practices that are expected to further enhance UAFFEdFA, Inc.’s efforts in employee professional development, academic programs, standards, and institutional policies.
