Two Sociology students of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) traveled to the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Chennai, India, to participate in the techno-management festival “TechnoVIT 2025” on October 31 to November 2.
Students Princes Charina Amate (3rd year) and Aeron Josh Batangan (4th year) were selected to participate in the event for their strong academic standing as consistent academic achievers and scholars, as well as for their cultural awareness and inclination toward technology-related fields.
As VIT Chennai's flagship technical festival, TechnoVIT included various interactive booths and activities, such as Go Karting, RoboCar Soccer, Sungazing, Hackathons, and RoboCar Racing. It also hosted the 7th International Higher Education Fair and a Techno Quiz, providing students with opportunities to explore innovation across multiple disciplines.
The festival showcased the technical skills of students across the globe, converging creativity and innovation despite traditional boundaries. With this, international participants were able to experience the level of innovation and creativity of students from VIT, contributing to the global knowledge base in technology.
Sociology Department Chair Weena Franco said this aligns with the department’s ongoing internationalization efforts as it prepares for international accreditation in 2029. “We are expanding our international efforts through student conferences, immersion experiences, and collaborative research and partnerships with universities abroad,” she said.
This also aligns with the university’s agenda to expand its international presence and linkages.
Engaging with experts and peers from diverse cultural backgrounds, the student participants were able to benchmark global technological trends, widen their academic exposure, and gain insights into innovation.
