Lecturer Mr. Quazi Tafsirul Islam from North South University in Bangladesh opens the Short-Term Visiting Academic Expert Program through a lecture forum on AI and Green Learning at the Center for Flexible Learning (CFL) held on November 17.
Mr. Islam discussed the importance of sustainability education in business schools and presented the key components of effective sustainability learning. The forum, organized by Mariano Marcos State University through the College of Business, Economics and Accountancy (CBEA), gathered faculty members and academic organization officers from the said college.
According to CBEA OIC Dean Emil James Tanagon, represented by Department of Accountancy Chair Suerte Dy, the intersection of artificial intelligence and sustainability is critical for innovation during this time of rapidly evolving digital landscape and intensifying environmental challenges.
MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., represented by Vice President for Research, Development, and Innovation Nathaniel Alibuyog, expressed the importance of embracing artificial intelligence. “These are now tools that can help all of us to be more guided and be more efficient in our undertakings while protecting our natural resources,” he said.
Prior to the lecture, Mr. Islam paid a courtesy visit to MMSU President Manzano at the FEM Hall. He was accompanied by Internationalization, Linkages, and Partnerships Director Jeanette Dials, Alumni Relations Chief Krismary Sharmaine Agbigay, and faculty members of the Human Resource Management (HRM) program.
The visiting program supports scholarly exchange, deepens institutional linkages, and advances faculty and student development. Mr. Islam will be joining other engagements until November 21, including a meeting with HRM faculty members and a forum on publishing, case writing, and leveraging Al in research.
MMSU inked a partnership with NSU in 2022. In 2023, Mr. Islam served as one of the speakers during the first International Business Conference (IBC) at MMSU, where he discussed technological systems for a future-proof workforce.
