The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College - Office for Strategic Communication and Institutional Branding (STRATCOM) team visited its counterpart at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) today, November 3, to benchmark best practices in public relations and other services.
The delegation, led by STRATCOM Director Jennielou Pigao was welcomed by MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr. at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Hall. Dr. Manzano noted that STRATCOM is “an important communication arm of MMSU, as it helps in building the university’s image and keeps its constituents well-informed.” He also expressed his gratitude to the visiting team and hopes that they will likewise adopt the best practices learned back in ISPSC.
STRATCOM Director Herdy Yumul guided the delegation through MMSU’s facilities, including information, digital media, and photo-video documentation units, providing firsthand insight into the university’s integrated communication workflow.
The session facilitated a comprehensive exchange of insights on brand standardization, office management, and structural operations. Ms. Pigao also commended MMSU’s innovative strategies, including its workforce and human capital management system, praising how “everyone seems to understand and uphold the brand values in everything they do.”
Meanwhile, MMSU-STRATCOM staff presented the office’s best practices. University Press Chief Jareason Fabre presented the book and knowledge-product production capabilities of the MMSU Press; Senior Video Editor Robert Joe Pagtama showcased the Photo-Video Documentation unit’s equipment and strategies for digital content management, graphic design, and photography; Senior Graphics Artist Renzie Aguada featured brand standards and digital media services through digital brochure presentations; and Senior Writer Michael Visaya discussed information management and social media visibility strategies.
In turn, the ISPSC delegation shared their draft publications, media and brand kit proposals, and institutional visual identity and standards, which were constructively reviewed by the STRATCOM team. The discussion enabled both institutions to explore strategies for enhancing brand consistency, optimizing digital communication workflows, and establishing unified visual and editorial guidelines.
Ms. Pigao, concurrently the Executive Assistant to the ISPSC President, said that this initiative aims to “develop a unified brand identity that speaks of excellence and integrity while also celebrating [their] distinct local character,” especially that “the college is on its way to universityhood.”
