3 MMSU-COE alumni recognized as ASEAN Engineers

Three alumni of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU)- College of Engineering were officially recognized as ASEAN Engineers during the 43rd Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (CAFEO 43) held on October 28 in Clark, Pampanga.
The three newly conferred ASEAN engineers from MMSU are Engr. Rigor Gabur, Engr. Jovenie Tagatac, and Dr. Nolan Concha. Along with other awardees, the three alumni received the distinguished recognition for demonstrating technical excellence, integrity and commitment to the advancement of engineering practice in the ASEAN community.
Engr. Gabur’s conferment stands as a testament to his professional competence and leadership in electrical engineering. A registered electrical engineer with 24 years of expertise, he led MMSU’s Electrical, Electronics, and Airconditioning Section, managed energy audits and PCB safety programs, and supervised major electrical design and commissioning projects, championing safe, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure.
Engr. Jovenie Tagatac, a seasoned professional electrical engineer with nearly three decades of experience in power systems operations, serves as Country Lead for Mobile Technical Services at Jones Lang LaSalle Philippines Inc., and holds key leadership roles in UPEEP and IIEEP. Meanwhile, Dr. Nolan Concha, an MMSU Civil Engineering alumnus (Batch 2006) and Ph.D. holder from De La Salle University, is a part-time faculty member at DLSU with 17 years of academic and research experience, focusing on structural engineering and sustainable materials.
The CAFEO 43, hosted by the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) and led by the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines Inc. (IIEE), showcased regional excellence and innovation in engineering.
Anchored on the theme “ASEAN Engineers: Beacons of Prosperity, Inclusivity, Equity, Resilience, and Sustainability,” the event gathered engineers, industry leaders, and professionals from across Southeast Asia to share innovations and strengthen collaboration toward sustainable development.
The recognition of Engr. Gabur, Tagatac, and Concha emphasize the university’s untiring commitment to producing globally competitive and socially responsible engineers who embody excellence, leadership, and service in the ASEAN community.
