Mariano Marcos State University, through the Sustainability and Futures Thinking (SFT) Office and in partnership with Peace Corps volunteer Katelynn, launched a sustainability awareness campaign titled “Sustainability 101 with Katelynn” to further enhance the sustainability initiatives and programs of the university.
Running from August to December, the campaign involves a series of visits to the different colleges of the university, where students are encouraged to share their ideas, concerns, and perspectives on sustainability-related issues. These insights will be gathered and integrated into MMSU’s sustainability programs.
According to SFT Director Arlene Gonzales, the initiative is an outlet to enhance the university’s sustainability roadmap by embedding student-generated ideas. She also emphasized that it aims to stimulate student interest in the United Nations global agenda.
By integrating student voices in the development of sustainability programs, MMSU aims to foster a more inclusive and responsive approach to addressing global challenges. The campaign also provides a platform to deepen their understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This initiative reflects the university’s continued commitment to empowering students as key contributors in building a more sustainable and resilient future.
