Zonta club partners with MMSU for cybercrime webinar
The Zonta Club of Ilocos Norte (ZCIN), in partnership with the Golden Z clubs of MMSU College of Teacher Education (CTE) and the Ilocos Norte National High School (INNHS), held a webinar on cybercrime laws in the Philippines last December 6.
The webinar was one way of celebrating the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence from November 25 to December 10 with the theme, “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect.”
In the virtual event, lawyers Pia Maria Barbara Mirca C. Cua and Cherry Grace B. Asistin talked about how teens can protect themselves in cyberspace, and insights about cyberlibel and identity theft, respectively.
Cua is the director of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines - Ilocos Norte Chapter and the ZCIN’s vice president, while Asistin, an MMSU alumna, is a member of the organizations’ board of directors.
A total of 75 MMSU and INNHS faculty and students attended the zoom webinar. The activity also has 621 views on the live broadcast of the Zonta club’s official Facebook page.
The virtual event was graced by some notable Zonta club members: Hon. Mary Ang, member of MMSU’s Board of Regents; Dr. Ligaya T. Miguel, former director of DepEd Region 1 and director of Zonta Area IV; ZCIN President Helen Pascual and Ms. Esther Lili Pasion. – Niña Christelle M. Sumintac, CTE correspondent
