Two publications ink separate MOAs with MMSU
THE ILOCOS Times publisher Jun-b Ramos, and Timpuyog Journal adviser Severino V. Pablo signed, October 15 at the MMSU Center for Teaching Excellence, memorandums of agreement with MMSU, represented by President Miriam E. Pascua, for the provision of copies of their respective publications to various libraries of the university.
The two MOAs, which are renewable after five years, shall benefit the reading public at the Main Library Periodicals and Ilocaniana Sections in Batac and the Laoag Campus Library.
MMSU, for its part, shall ensure that the copies of The Ilocos Times and Timpuyog Journal are displayed in conspicuous and accessible sections and/or corners in the aforementioned libraries for utmost readership. Also, the univesity shall, in each of the aforementioned libraries, bind annual compilations of the publications for easy reference.
Owned by the Ramos Family in Laoag, The Ilocos Times is the oldest and longest running community newspaper in the North. It has a weekly circulation of 5,000 copies and is available online. Timpuyog Journal, on the other hand, is the official monthly magazine of the Timpuyog Dagiti Mannurat iti Iluko, a global organization of progressive writers.
The signing of the MOAs, done in coordination with the Center for Ilocos- Amianan Studies headed by Dr. Alegria T. Visaya, was upon the initiative of CMR Print Media chief Herdy La. Yumul, a columnist of The Ilocos Times and vice president of TMI Ilocos Norte.
