MMSU posts 81.63% in CPA exam
Christmas has come to CBEA early as their graduates posted an 81.63 percent passing rate in the October 2015 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in key cities.
“Our passing rate puts us at par with the six top-performing schools officially listed by the PRC,” CBEA dean Lorna Olivia F. Salmasan happily reported. MMSU, in fact, would have landed seventh if only it fielded at least 50 examinees, the minimum number required to be included in the prestigious roster. MMSU had 49 examinees.
“To be one of the top-performing schools, at least 80 percent should pass from at least 50 examinees,” explained Prof. Salmasam in her report to the Office of the President. Of 49 takers from MMSU, 40 passed, thus the 81.63 percent rating which is twice as high as the 41.06 percent national success rate (5,468 out of 13,317.)
Of the 49 MMSU examinees, 45 were first-timers of which 38 passed, 3 failed, and 4 conditioned–giving them a remarkable 84.44 percent passing rate. Meanwhile, two repeaters passed (50%).
Conditional grades are given to examinees who obtain a general average of at least 75 percent, but get less than 65 percent in a maximum of three out of seven subjects in the test.
In a statement, Dr. Prima Fe R. Franco, officer-in-charge, congratulated the new CPAs and challenged them to continue living up to MMSU’s core values of excellence, integrity, and service to God and nation. She also commended CBEA for reaffirming MMSU’s stature as one of the finest educational institutions in the Philippines.
According to Prof. Adrian Galapon, accountancy department chair, a testimonial program for the new CPAs is set on Nov. 7. (By Reynaldo E. Andres and Herdy La. Yumul)
