
MMSU opens Educational Center at Dingras campus

The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Dingras Campus marked a milestone in agricultural education and cultural heritage with the inauguration of its new Educational and Recreational Center, converted from an old faculty quarters.
The event gathered university officials, faculty, students, government leaders, and partner institutions, witnessing Dingras’ continuing role as a center of culture, agricultural innovation, and agri-tourism in Ilocos Norte.
In her welcome remarks, Dr. Sosima Demandante reflected on the growth of Dingras Agricultural School into a campus that now serves as a hub of learning and cultural pride. She said that the new center and the paddy art symbolize not only creativity but also the shared responsibility to advance education and agriculture.
Dr. Leo G. Inocencio thanked the university administration, the Local Government of Dingras, and partners for supporting the conversion of the two-storey faculty quarters into a bungalow. He said the facility will serve as a venue for board exam reviews, conferences, and training lectures and assured its proper use to advance MMSU’s mission in instruction, research, and extension.
Mayor Joemelle Saguid Go-Sy lauded the project as both a heritage symbol and a monument of progress, expressing support for MMSU and its partners.
Representing MMSU President Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., Dr. Marlowe Aquino underscored the university’s efforts to create meaningful facilities and programs. He recalled how the old building was once a challenge, but through dedication, it was transformed into a modern educational hub.
Dr. Jocelyn Bernabe, MS Crop Science program coordinator, reminded the community that the projects symbolize not only progress but also the dedication of teachers, students, and partners.
