MMSU kickers overthrow reigning sepak takraw champs

MARIANO MARCOS State University kickers victoriously dethrone reigning sepak takraw champion, University of Northern Philippines as the ferocious roosters surmounted the yellowed-shirts, 2-1, in a best-of-three series, Nov. 25.

UNP opened the first regu as star player Kendrick Rosario unleashed powerful headings and intractable head shots to dominate the first and second set, 21-19, 21-14.

UNP dominated the first set of the second regu as team captain Ryan Fariñas showcased mouth-wrapping moves, 21-19. Challenged MMSU roosters intensified their hard-bound defenses and dynamic attacks to finally steal the lead in the second set with score 21-15. The third set tensed the crowd as MMSU roosters’ Randy Asuncion showcased powered-up cartwheels and both team exhibit a neck-to-neck display of nerve-wrecking blockages and skills. MMSU eventually overcame UNP’s charge dominating the set, 15-8.

The last regu was a do-or-die game as MMSU toppers flashed their stunning cartwheels and headings to completely vanquish UNP’s spectacular summersaults and head-shots ending the first set with 24-22, favoring the roosters.
