MMSU joins GMA in fight against fake news
By Shanell Jay Aguinaldo
In a stride to end fake news, MMSU partnered with GMA Network’s "Panata Kontra Fake News" campaign to fight the spread of false information BY signing a memorandum of agreement and oath-taking ceremony today, August 30 at GMA Network Studios in Quezon City.
Representing MMSU were Maria Kathrina Ysabel Antonio, Information Services Chief of the Strategic Communication Office, and Information Officer Crisdeniele Clemente.
The campaign's goal is to educate the public on identifying and avoiding fake news, improve digital literacy, and encourage responsible content sharing. As part of the agreement, MMSU will promote the campaign on its official websites and social media platforms. The university will also display a copy of the Panata Kontra Fake News pledge on campus.
GMA Network Chairman Atty. Felipe L. Gozon welcomed the media partners and institutions, expressing his support for the initiative. “Panata Kontra Fake News continues our longstanding effort to protect the integrity of public discourse,” he said. He also urged the public to "be morally upright at home, in school, and at work," stressing the social responsibility of every Filipino.
The event included an oath-taking ceremony where MMSU and other partners pledged their commitment to combating fake news.
Also present at the ceremony were GMA Network President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., Executive Vice President and CFO Felipe S. Yalong, and other executives, department heads, and representatives from state universities and colleges across the country.
This collaboration underscores the shared dedication of all partners to promoting truth and integrity in media, ensuring accurate information reaches the public.
